About the Granby Transfer Station

April 24, 2010 was the last day of operation for the Grand County Landfill. Grand County residents and businesses can now bring their garbage to the Granby Transfer Station, which is operated by The Trash Company. The Granby Transfer Station accepts all of the garbage that was taken by the landfill – and more.

The facility will operate much like a landfill in that you bring your trash to the Transfer Station and deposit it on the facility’s tipping room floor. The Trash Company then loads the garbage into large trailers and hauls it to a disposal facility in Denver within 24 hours.

Local sanitation trucks will also deposit the garbage they collect from Grand County neighborhoods at this facility.

The Granby facility also serve as drop-off points for single stream recycling. Single stream recycling means that no sorting is required for glass, plastic, paper, aluminum and tin. {Click here to find out more about The Trash Company’s Drop-off Recycling program.}
